We ebike visit several times a year during different seasons and picnic on the beautiful grounds or in the surrounding forest, it's only a short ride. It is very peaceful and calming. Run the URL link through Google translate and follow some of the other links on the page. Check out the drone video, we'll done.

Checking out the source of the 'Boven Slinge' river, which starts about 20 kms from Ukatani, around Winterswijk in the Achterhoek.  The Slinge here is just a natural creek, by the time it gets close to us it is canalised dammed and flood controlled. An old water mill on the Slinge Letting the creeks flow naturally, no bridge or culvert drain, just let it flood.

It's been 75 years, but the Dutch have not forgotten Schoolchildren care for the many memorials in the area, with much respect and reverence.

52° N Bosboombroekerweg. ...our road....the backstory...titbits

It seems our street,  'BOSBOOMBROEKERWEG' was named after 2  family farms in the area. BOSBOOM and De BROOKER around the 1700s. A lot of water flowing into the local rivers and creeks from the recent rains.

52° N @ Ukatani Heelweg Oost

It's still winter in Heelweg, but our neighbour's Peacocks appear to be in full plumage. 'Arry and 'Enry " 'arry ", in full display, practicing for spring. " 'enry ", comes to the door for sunflower seeds before roosting in backyard beech tree for the night. Maybe a dusting of some snow this weekend. The two other birds are waterfowl that come to our little billabong.

26° N @ Boynton Spoonbill

Image
The Spoonbill It's winter in Florida and we have a small irrigation and drainage sloot (canal) a few metres from our back door.  Many water and marsh wading birds feed here. Our windows have reflective tint and the birds can't see us, wonderful to observe and photograph them from a few metres away. Sitting on his backwards knees with feet out in front, preparing to take a nap. Backstory Roseate  Spoonbills  get their  pink  coloration from the foods they eat. Crustaceans and other aquatic invertebrates contain pigments called carotenoids that help turn their feathers  pink . They are in the Ibis family.
