  Just a few kilometers from our Boynton place, in an urban area, is a beautiful nature reserve in a water management area.  There is a disused livestock trailer place in Heelweg and it is being torn down.  What an operator, he is ripping off sheets of roofing 15 metres long, folding them up and stuffing it into a skip. Here's  a little video from the sidewalk superintendent. OK, I'm working on it......standby Rumor is that they are going to build 6 'starter' homes on that location.

 In the Achterhoek it is the Dutch farmers tradition to shoot off calcium carbide cannons, usually from steel milk churns with a tight fitting lid, or a soccer or basketball stuffed in the end.  A hole is drilled in the bottom and a piece of calcium carbide rock is put in the bottom along with some water.  This produces a flammable gas (acetylene) that is ignited and shoots the lid, or the ball several hundred metres and makes a hell of a bang.
