History lesson....

The German occupation of the Netherlands from the Dutch perspective. WW2 is still very fresh in the minds of older Dutch residents. The Dutch had planned on flooding parts of Holland, not deep enough for boats, but would hinder any advancing troops.  Here is a great little video.  We live in a rural area in Eastern Netherlands close to the German border.  I have not been in the big, heavily populated cities in the West, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, den Hague, Utrecht in 20 - 30 years.  We fly and out of Schiphol airport, about an hour and a half from our village of Heelweg. Sometimes we see, at the most 5 0r 6 bikers on our local 'fietspads'. Check out the video.. https://youtu.be/gbj37IsOiWs

I was born in Sydney.  I left in 1964 and have not been back.  Here's a docco that brought back many memories. Hope you enjoy. Sydney is built around a magnificent natural harbour and many beautiful beaches.  Check out the docco and read some of the contents. Double click https://youtu.be/YUdSeTYe92o

'Itchy Boots', Noraly Schoenmaker from Utrecht, Netherlands. Back Story

Image
I have been following this Dutch young lady on her YouTube video lot for a few years. She is now in South America and headed towards Alaska.  Now riding a Honda CRF300, a small light bike that she can really handle well.  She does a terrific job with her Vblog. Beautiful photography and drone videos as well as history and background of  the area.  Noraly gets off the paved highways as much as possible and likes to 'do-it-in-the-dirt'. Here is a short titbit of her backstory on how she started adventure riding. Her videos, drone shots, music and editing are all done by herself on the road. https://youtu.be/b0l89Gaaxzo   I really recommend her adventures and it doesn't get any better than this for an senior armchair adventurer. Here is the link to her channel, I hope you enjoy as much as I. https://youtu.be/xQQ0pGy2oHw
