'Itchy Boots', Noraly Schoenmaker from Utrecht, Netherlands. Back Story

Image
I have been following this Dutch young lady on her YouTube video lot for a few years. She is now in South America and headed towards Alaska.  Now riding a Honda CRF300, a small light bike that she can really handle well.  She does a terrific job with her Vblog. Beautiful photography and drone videos as well as history and background of  the area.  Noraly gets off the paved highways as much as possible and likes to 'do-it-in-the-dirt'. Here is a short titbit of her backstory on how she started adventure riding. Her videos, drone shots, music and editing are all done by herself on the road. https://youtu.be/b0l89Gaaxzo   I really recommend her adventures and it doesn't get any better than this for an senior armchair adventurer. Here is the link to her channel, I hope you enjoy as much as I. https://youtu.be/xQQ0pGy2oHw

52° North, Heelweg bloody cold, mates

Image
Our correspondent (Maarten) in Heelweg sent a couple of pics. Captain Hook had frost on his tail feathers and is snuggled up to a warm spot by de 'ouse.  (The 3 peacocks are all 15~20 years old and roost in a big Oak tree behind our house.  They roost there in all weather) Frost on the trees..... Our other correspondent (Marjo) saw a few deer on her daily walking adventure.   Double click video link below. https://photos.app.goo.gl/Gcj4oseGhQTA4yq58

52° North.....tings ARE very different here.....'Gourmetting'

Image
At Xmas, things are different here.  Rather than slaving away for a couple of days preparing a lavish feast of massive cut of meat or huge bird, many Dutch do this. Titbits PS:- We don't have one of these tingums.  There are many in the Thrift Shops after Xmas for just a few €s.  In warmer weather we prefer to cook/grill/wok/ outside with the peacocks and neighbor's chooks. We have a problem with moles, in the yard and the garden

Image
This bloke ignited propane gas, dunno if it got rid of the moles ? https://youtu.be/2XBQbS0ACm4 We have tried pissing in the tunnels, that didn't work and it's cold outside......got to take off too many clothes. Some locals use carbide gas....acetylene (carbide rocks in water) but nothing seems to work, humanely. The moles are after my garden worms. Last year I bought a kilo of garden worms and started a worm farm in crates to make compost.  That went well, so I buried 4 inch pipes in the garden and transferred the worms.  They have spread throughout the yard and garden, but unfortunately worms are the preferred diet for moles.
